BOE Approves Leadership Transition Plan

BOE Approves Leadership Transition Plan
Posted on 02/24/2023

USD 204 is proud to announce that the Board of Education has appointed Mr. Moulin as Deputy Superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year. This is the next step in his transition to becoming Superintendent of USD 204 for the 2024-25 school year.

Mr. Brungardt, current Superintendent, began working with the BOE two years ago to build a leadership transition plan with minimal disruption to district operations. He believes that a successful school district needs a shift in leadership after a certain period of time, and bringing in someone with a different perspective can provide continuous opportunities for growth. Mr. Brungardt does not plan to retire after the 2023-24 school year but is hopeful to continue his career in a new school district, confident that Mr. Moulin will be set to lead the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District forward.

Mr. Moulin came to USD 204 in 2nd grade as a student at Edwardsville Elementary. After graduating from Bonner Springs High School and continuing his education, he returned to the district as an English teacher. Eventually, he took on the roles of counselor, assistant principal, principal and then assistant superintendent. In both school and district leadership positions, Mr. Moulin has made a positive impact on staff, students and the community. He is encouraged by the progress made in USD 204 and is looking forward to serving as superintendent in 2024.

It is the goal of the BOE and Mr. Brungardt to continue focusing on the district’s strategic plan and student learning during this transition as Mr. Moulin takes on new responsibilities. Next school year, staff, students and families will be invited to share feedback and engage in conversations about the future of USD 204. Updates will be shared throughout this process.
