USD 204 Preschool Programs 

The Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District has preschool openings for the 2024-2025 school year!

The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and Kansas Statute K.S.A 72-5132 define a 4-year-old as a child who is 4 years of age on or before August 31, 2024 and a 3-year-old as a child who is 3 years of age on or before August 31, 2024. Students who are 5-years-old before August 31, 2024 are not preschool eligible.

Early childhood education programs offer a myriad of benefits for your child's development:

• Socialization: Interacting with peers in a structured setting helps children learn important social skills like sharing, taking turns, and cooperation.

• Emotional Development: Preschool provides a safe space for children to explore and express their emotions, fostering emotional intelligence and resilience.

• Independence: Encouraging independence and decision-making empowers children to become confident learners and problem-solvers.

• Preparation for School: Preschool prepares children for the academic and social demands of formal schooling, giving them a head start for future success.

USD 204 offers programs at three separate learning centers within the community. See details and qualifications below for each program. McDanield No Fee Preschool

Qualification for Admission (must meet one or more of the following criteria):

• Qualifies for free meals under the National School Lunch Program

• Custodial parent is unmarried on the first day of school

• Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) referral

• At least one parent was a teenager when the student was born

• At least one parent is lacking a high school diploma or GED on the first day of school

• Limited English proficiency (the student must qualify for ESOL services)

• Lower than expected developmental progress from a child school screening

• Migrant status copy of certificate of eligibility on file

• Child experiencing homelessness 

All students must reside in the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District and meet the age qualification on or before August 31,2024.

Current McDanield preschool sessions include:

• Half-day program for 3-year olds
• Half-day program for 4-year olds
• Full-day program for 4-year olds

Delaware Ridge Tuition-Based Preschool

Enrollment Criteria

• All students must reside in the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District and be 4 years of age on or before August 31, 2024. 

• Students turning 5 on or before August 31, 2024 are not eligible for enrollment. 

• Students must be independent with toileting.

Important Information

• Hours are 8:30 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday-Friday when school is in session.

• The district does not provide transportation.

• A $50 non-refundable tuition deposit is required.

• Tuition is $500 per month, due by the 1st of each month. Tuition includes breakfast, lunch and a snack each day.

• Failure to pay the tuition by the 5th day of each month will result in the child's removal from the program.  

• Enrollment will be accepted until all slots are filled. If all slots are filled, you may request to be placed on a waiting list. Only completed enrollment packets will be considered.

Enrollment Criteria

• All students must reside in the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville School District and be 3 or 4 years of age on or before August 31, 2024. 

• Students turning 5 on or before August 31, 2024 are not eligible for enrollment. 

• Family must meet certain income qualifications.

Important Information

• School hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM

• Transportation is offered to all students

• Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily through Child and Adult Care Food Program

• There are no fees for enrollment in the Head Start program
